In this studio, we will be practicing meditation and writing to explore themes of suffering and compassion. We will begin by meditating on our personal suffering, then writing to arouse self-compassion for ourselves. The second session will examine the suffering of our loved ones and not-so-loved ones, and how to use writing to communicate compassion and facilitate relational healing. Finally, in the third session we will examine suffering on the global scale, meditate on research regarding our global crisis, and practice writing as a conductor of compassion for all beings.
In this interdisciplinary studio, attendees contemplate crises that they feel compassionate toward and develop methods to address them in their writing. Attendees will participate in a meditation and complete writing activities designed to encourage mindfulness of the world around them.
