NYC Street Tree Consciousness: How Eco-Writing Can Create a Bridge to the Natural World Around Us
About the Event
In this studio, participants will learn about the genre conventions of eco-writing. We will read poetry and prose that departs from the tradition of nature writing and work towards bridging the divide between humanity and the natural world in a time of environmental chaos. Using the eco-writing we read together as a guide, we will write our own reflections about navigating the ecology of NYC.

We will read an excerpt from Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons From Marine Mammals, discuss the lessons we learn from it and write a letter honoring the sea mammal that could hear for miles and miles.
