Fiction Editing Techniques

Flat lay notebook with polaroids on an orange background

About the Event

Over the course of this studio, we’ll explore techniques for editing projects, big and small. We’ll discuss the value of breaking a big edit down into multiple classes focused on specific aspects of your story (character, pace, plot, and more!). We’ll also learn about specific tools for each of those passes and put them into actions editing our own work.

In this studio, we’re going to discuss the bane of so many writers: the info dump. We’ll talk about how to keep worldbuilding and character backstory rich without bogging down our drafts, and we’ll learn revision techniques to control the flow of information without confusing our readers or destroying our pace.
