About the Event

“I’m a dirt person. I trust the dirt. I don’t trust diamonds and gold.” — Eartha Kitt

In a world where surface appearances often overshadow deeper truths, Ianne Fields Stewart invites mentors to engage in a transformative workshop that reorients our perspectives toward authenticity and grounded connection. This session encourages participants to shift their gaze from the “diamonds and gold”—the polished facades and assumptions—back to the “dirt and earth,” symbolizing realness, humility, and foundational truths.

Through reflective writing exercises and dynamic group discussions, mentors will explore how unconscious bias and power dynamics influence the mentoring relationship. The workshop will delve into recognizing and addressing these challenges, fostering greater empathy and equity in mentorship. Participants will also examine the bystander effect and develop practical strategies to cultivate courageous, proactive support for mentees and colleagues. Join us to deepen your understanding of how to create inclusive, honest, and impactful mentoring spaces rooted in trust and genuine connection.
