Open to all mentees, mentee alum and NBCU employees
Inspired by our corporate partner NBCU and the “Festivus” episode in the hit NBC show Seinfeld, this workshop is a chance to cast aside the stress and pressure of finals, deadlines and gifts to embrace your own inner holiday! In this festive afternoon event on the cusp of holiday break, we will carve out time for you to celebrate anything and anyone you want. Let your imagination run wild as you work in small, multi-generational groups with NBCU employees—”Mentors for the Day”—and Girls Write Now Mentees to create your own theme and design, plan your menu and playlist, draft your invitation, and even curate your dream guest list. The holiday stars are always aligned when you’re decorating the sky. Don’t miss this special once in a lifetime opportunity!
Mentees who attend the entire workshop will receive a moleskin notebook or a novel—the choice is yours—AND be entered into a raffle to win skincare, lip care or beauty products!
Meet the Teaching Artist
Brittany Barker
Brittany Barker is an educator, poet and the creative director of Creative Soul House. She’s served in education for 8 years, as a humanities instructor, curriculum designer and a Dean of Programs where she spearheaded schoolwide youth and adult-development initiatives for enrichment and socio-emotional learning. Brittany has been recognized by the Walton Foundation for her leadership in transformative arts education and currently curates holistic and social-justice experiences for schools and organizations in local NY communities.

Writing Works Mentees and Corporate Partner EmployeesWriting Works Mentees are required to attend one Writing Works workshop per month.
Writing Works Mentors are required to attend one Writing Works workshop every other month.
Writing 360 Mentees & Publishing 360 Mentees, all Writing Works workshops are optional.
