Maile Carpenter

Maile Carpenter

Maile Carpenter is the founding editor-in-chief of both Food Network Magazine, the best-selling monthly magazine in the U.S., and The Pioneer Woman Magazine, created with Food Network star Ree Drummond, and she now serves as the editorial director for both titles as well as ThePioneerWoman.com and HGTV Magazine.    During Carpenter’s tenure, Food Network Magazine, which launched in 2008, has received numerous industry awards, including Advertising Age’s “Magazine Launch of the Year” and the top spot on Adweek’s “Hot List.” In 2019, Carpenter was named to Folio: Magazine’s “Edit and Design Hall of Fame.” She was also named as one of Folio:’s “Top Women in Media” and Crain’s New York Business’ “40 Under 40.”   Carpenter’s experience in the entertainment, media and lifestyle arenas have made her a sought-after voice on food culture and lifestyle trends. She has been interviewed by the New York Times and the Washington Post, appeared on NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America, and lectured at Harvard University.   Under Carpenter’s direction, Food Network Magazine has published three New York Times-bestselling cookbooks for children: The Big, Fun Kids Cookbook, The Big, Fun Kids Baking Book, and The Recipe-a-Day Cookbook.   Prior to joining Hearst Magazines, Carpenter was the executive editor of Every Day with Rachael Ray. She started her career in newspapers, at the Wilmington Morning Star and Raleigh News & Observer in North Carolina, followed by FYI magazine and San Francisco Magazine, where she received a James Beard Award for magazine feature writing. She also served as the restaurant editor for Time Out New York for three years.   Carpenter has a journalism degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a culinary degree from the French Culinary Institute in New York City. She lives in New York City with her chef-husband, Wylie Dufresne, and their two daughters. 

Liz Sgroi

Liz Sgroi

Liz Sgroi is the executive director of Food Network Magazine and The Pioneer Woman Magazine and has been working on both magazines since they launched. She has also helped produce 15 bookazines and 10 cookbooks with the brands, including several New York Times bestsellers. Before joining the team, Liz was the food editor at Quick & Simple, a weekly publication, as well at La Cucina Italiana and Italian Cooking & Living magazines. She lives in upstate New York with her husband and two daughters and loves any excuse to bake a cake.
