A Bibliotherapy Series: Bibliotherapy or poetry therapy also goes under the names of “writing therapy,” “journaling therapy,” and “transformative writing.” But Shakespeare would say a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. In this series, Sherry Reiter, a clinical social worker and registered biblio/poetry therapist, will lead participants in a series of exercises that are used to treat depression, anxiety, and trauma. Using prescriptive, receptive, and creative techniques, learn more about the intersection of writing and healing. Thought-provoking and fun, these exercises prompt creativity–the greatest healer of all.

This month, after a brief discussion of what depression is, we will move through poetry and writing exercises that loosen the hold of depression, and help to create mindsets for thriving. Short journaling exercises and excerpts of great literature will be used.

To attend this event, create a Girls Write Now account and register for this event through the portal.
