Magic systems are an integral part of fantasy stories; from shapeshifting dragons to governments that position armies of great power to manipulate with the mind. Power and magic can take many forms and through this workshop, participants will learn to develop systems unique to their stories.

All Aboard: Sailing Across Scholarships, Fellowships, and Friendship

In this session, participants will learn how to sustain and grow their creative network. Using the University of Chapel Hill’s The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship (a full-ride creative writing scholarship), participants will brainstorm a list of teachers, mentors, supervisors, and more who can speak about their creativity and ambition. Participants will also learn the art of the cold email to connect with writers and artists not in their network.
