This studio explores how to write powerful villains and morally complex characters by focusing on belief, motivation and internal logic rather than simple “good vs. evil.” Participants will learn how antagonists mirror the hero, challenge their beliefs, and create deeper, more meaningful conflict. By the end, they’ll be able to craft layered villains whose perspectives feel real, compelling, and impossible to ignore.
Everybody has money on their mind right now, and for good reason! Our partners at Raymond James join us to demystify and destigmatize all money matters.
In this interdisciplinary studio, attendees contemplate crises that they feel compassionate toward and develop methods to address them in their writing. Attendees will participate in a meditation and complete writing activities designed to encourage mindfulness of the world around them.
In this community studio, participants will explore the DIY Publishing world and how to distribute their zines through zine fairs, consignment, art boxes and more! (plus the freedom of binding and sharing your zines in cool shapes!)
In this Friday Night Salon, we’ll explore the art of telling our health story with clarity, courage, and care! Through guided prompts offered by Meghan Rabbitt, author of, The New Rules of Women’s Health, we’ll learn how finding the right language can transform how we are heard and the care we receive, we’ll investigate our lived experiences, and practice expressing our needs with confidence.
Join us for the Final Showcase, a celebration of creativity, growth, and dedication from mentees in the Independent Study Journey. After three months of exploration and hard work, mentees will present the projects they developed.
Come enjoy a night filled with big laughs, bold stories, and plenty of heart, as mentees take the mic for their stand-up comedy debut. After the show, stick around to mingle and celebrate! Hosted by GWN teaching artist, Hollie Harper, the evening will also feature performances by NYC-based female stand-up comedians.
At this meeting, we will match our esteemed Tech Committee members with passionate mentees raving about their recent AI Journey, taught by Tech Committee co-chair and new Girls Write Now Board member, Ashna Shah. In pairs, and then together as a full group, we will review the Tech Committee’s evolving statement on AI to get feedback and ideas for the next iteration. We look forward to the intergenerational exchange as we articulate Girls Write Now’s unique stance on AI for now and for the future.
