In this session, we will explore how poets give shape to loss and find meaning in what remains. Through close readings and writing exercises, we will discover how grief can become a language of memory, of showing grace, and of transformation.
The Discovery: Oftentimes, people discover culture at an early age in life whether it be through moments of cultural joy or through traumatic experiences of ostracization. Get your writing gears turning as we explore reflecting on these experiences and putting them onto paper.

In this session, we’ll come together to create a new, clear definition of love and figure out where our current ones come from.
In this studio we will learn about comedy writing and practice looking for a comedic angle in everyday events. The main focus for this first studio will be how to create jokes from the news, in the style of late-night writing.

At this month’s committee meeting, we’ll harness the diverse experiences and expertise of Tech Committee members, identifying the real tensions of leaders across sectors to best position Girls Write Now as a strategic solution with essential services to meet those needs.
During this session, we aim to help mentees use poetry as a tool for upliftment in times of uncertainty and doubt. The goal is to show how poetry can be a bearer of light in dark times, while also inspiring mentees to harness that light through the creation of their own verses!
