This animated children’s book immerses you in its unconventional pages. Through its unique color and tender tone, my animated short depicts one boy’s courage to trust himself.

Process

Driven by the piece’s visuals, I used Procreate and Adobe After Effects to illustrate an animated children’s book. Visually inspired by impressionism and abstraction, I built this story page by page, or frame by frame, to delicately piece together the story’s narrative. Along with the meticulous and meditative animation process, I included text that creates a gentle yet direct tone. Alphabet Boy mirrors the pursuit of finding peace from within despite any turbulence one may be surrounded by. Creating this peace taught me to slow down and trust the process, both artistically and personally.
