One Less World

By Farangiz Suvonkulova

This poem is for my friend who betrayed me. She told me she had seen her friends betray her and talk shit behind her back, but that doesn’t mean she had to do the same to me. I think that if somebody’s heart is broken, they try to break other people’s hearts too, so they don’t feel alone.

Process

It took me a month to write this poem because it is not just something I wrote when I was bored. I experienced it all and wrote it down as it was happening. I’ve seen many people with broken hearts; once, they trusted someone deeply, but now their trust is gone because a person has betrayed them.
