Girls Write Now Mentee Christiane Calixte Wins the 2026 Women’s Media Group Scholarship

June 4, 2026 – New York, NY

We are thrilled to announce that Girls Write Now mentee Christiane Calixte has been awarded the 2026 Women’s Media Group (WMG) Scholarship. A Girls Write Now mentee over the past four years, Christiane is a Brooklyn-based Caribbean American freelance writer, public speaker, and writing coach. Her work has been featured in the Washington Post and YR Media, and she is studying English and Creative Writing at Columbia University.

This $2,000 scholarship was created in 2022 by Girls Write Now mentor and WMG member Nevin Mays to encourage young people committed to a career in media. Each spring, Girls Write Now mentees who are rising college juniors or seniors, and who can demonstrate a commitment to both media and leadership, are invited to apply. In addition to financial support, the recipient receives a complimentary three-year WMG membership, enabling the WMG Scholar to participate in all networking events, career-development programs, and workshops, along with opportunities to socialize.

For both Girls Write Now and Women’s Media Group, the scholarship is an expression of the organizations’ shared dedication to supporting the next generation of media innovators.

Congratulations, Christiane!
