Girls Write Now honoree alum and longtime supporter Abbi Jacobson recently spoke with Girls Write Now about her initiative, the Prelude Fellowship.
Writer, actor, director, and longtime Girls Write Now champion Abbi Jacobson chatted with us about Prelude, an 8-month fellowship for people in the Greater Los Angeles area looking to start a career in TV or film. Prelude, a fellowship from Tender Pictures, was co-founded by Abbi Jacobson and Mieka Tennant with the vision of leveling the playing field for entry into the industry. The fellowship is open to ages 18 and up, and applications are due November 10.
We honored Jacobson at the Fifth Annual Girls Write Now Awards in 2017, and she also spoke to Girls Write Now’s Class of 2020 graduates. When asked why she aligns with Girls Write Now, Jacobson said she was a fan of our work because, “I identify as writer first, and I think that that has informed everything else I do… I think it’s a huge confidence builder… that is the foundation of being able to do anything.”
