Finding Your Voice: Creating Memorable POVs in Fiction with Jennifer Lauren Brown
In this community studio, we’ll talk about all things voice: the elusive monster of narrative fiction. We’ll do exercises to figure out how our narrators speak and how to make each character that appears in our stories each have a distinct style, personality, vocal quirks, and -isms.
In November, we’ll discuss the qualities of some of our favorite narrators in fiction and short stories. We’ll pick a character that is very different from ourselves (either from fiction or someone they know) and we’ll write a paragraph-long story in two ways (the way you’d tell it and the way your character would tell it).
