In our second Journey meeting, participants will explore how visual design transforms poetry into an immersive reading experience and discover how layout, typography, imagery, and white space can deepen a poem’s meaning and emotional impact. Working collaboratively, the group will establish a shared aesthetic vision for their collective zine while learning key principles of visual storytelling and publication design. Participants will then apply these concepts by designing a peer’s poem in Canva, balancing creativity with care to preserve the original writer’s voice. Through discussion, reflection, and hands-on creation, participants will gain practical experience in transforming written work into visually engaging pages while contributing to a cohesive and community-centered publication.
