Industry Workshop | Earth Day with Twitter: Poetry for Our Planet

In celebration of Earth Day and National Poetry month, Twitter employees—mentors for the day— and Girls Write Now mentees join forces to put some beauty and love for Mother Nature out in the world by creating centos (group poems) one line at a time.
Protecting the earth requires restraint, using less and reducing our carbon footprint. Twitter is designed to communicate your message with brevity and precision.
In this workshop, led by Brittany Barker, educator, poet and Girls Write Now mentee alumna, we will practice being good stewards of the earth by being economical in our message about caring for the world around us.

Meet the Teaching Artist
Brittany Barker
Brittany Barker is an educator, poet and the creative director of Creative Soul House. She’s served in education for 8 years, as a humanities instructor, curriculum designer and a Dean of Programs where she spearheaded schoolwide youth and adult-development initiatives for enrichment and socio-emotional learning. Brittany has been recognized by the Walton Foundation for her leadership in transformative arts education and currently curates holistic and social-justice experiences for schools and organizations in local NY communities.
Writing Works Mentees are required to attend one Industry or Craft Writing Works workshop per month.
Writing Works Mentors are required to attend one Craft Writing Works workshop every other month.
Writing 360 Mentees & Publishing 360 Mentees, all Writing Works workshops are optional.
