Writing for Change

About the Event

This studio focuses on using various forms of writing to advocate for an issue (of each participant’s choice). Within three studio sessions, participants will have chosen a problem that speaks to them (whether it is in their community, on the global scale, etc.) and research how other individuals have used their voice to advocate for change within their topic. Participants will have the freedom to explore how they would like to present this problem to their fellow peers and teaching artists, whether this is through creative writing, journalism, mixed media, or more.

In this session, participants will learn about ways they can advocate through writing. Specifically, we will discuss our own journeys working towards change with a pen in hand, and we will ensure that participants come out of the lesson with passion and perseverance.
