Central Park

By Amoya Evans

I wrote this poem about my favorite park. It’s a big milestone in my life because I went to this park as a child.

Rows of lamp lights
Beam across the water
And all through the dark.
Surrounding me are lamps
Among the trees but they are only fireflies
Flickering through the darkness.
The dark sky after the sunset against the tall buildings.
The wind howling,
The bike bells ringing when I misstep,
The bareness of the lawn brings me to a stop.
No more towels, no more crowds,
I walk into the darkness as the fireflies lead the way.

Performance

Process

The process wasn’t that hard. It was fairly easy. I wrote this poem when I was with my mentor during our free writing time.
