Tuesday’s Soiree was a festive success, with major props to our generous Board Members Maggie Schmidt for helping to underwrite the event, Lee Clifford and Sang Lee for donating Altruette Charms and a Kindle for our top fundraisers, to our talented photographer Julie Varughese and musician Joe Hasan — and most importantly, to our fabulous GWN community! Former mentees, current mentors, Board members, people who simply care about Girls Write Now, all came together amongst confetti and envelopes to send nearly 350 letters and set up 22 online fundraising pages right then and there!
But did you know that the Soiree is just the beginning? As Board Chair Kamy Wicoff said on Tuesday, the Soiree kicks off our holiday appeal for the year — and the top online fundraiser wins a Kindle Fire from the Board!
Here are some easy ways you can help us reach our $100K Goal:
- SET UP A DIGITAL APPEAL: Setting up a First Giving page takes five minutes but has the potential to raise thousands of dollars. Visit our page for step-by-step instructions on how to get started.
- SHARE THE APPEAL BY EMAIL: Spread the love simply by going to our brand new, awesome website and sharing our appeal page! Email it to friends, family, your college lit professor, whomever you think will appreciate our mission!
- REQUEST A MAILING PACKAGE: If you think that big spender in your life would prefer a mailed letter, come pick up a packet of appeal materials with everything you might need. Just let Laura know how many letters you’d like to send! Yes, it really is that easy.
It’s our fifteenth year, and we’re determined to celebrate it in a BIG WAY: our appeal goal is a ground-breaking $100,000, and with your passion and creativity, we know we can do it!
