virtual event; open to Publishing 360 mentors and mentees
We’re making a zine! Over the next three months, Publishing 360 will collaborate to create an original online zine (magazine) composed entirely of mentee-created content. We’ll conceptualize and design the entire publication during our Spring 2023 Workshops.
In February’s workshop, we’ll learn about the history of zines as a revolutionary form of publishing, hear from some prominent zine editors, and then get brainstorming on our zine’s title and theme! (Note: we will decide the title and theme of the zine during this workshop!)
This zine will be a space for P360 mentees to create whatever they want to create and say whatever they’d like to say – we’ll be bold, inclusive, and—of course—entertaining! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to create a publication firsthand.
Emily Rigby (she/her) comes to Girls Write Now with a love of writing, meaningful experience developing curriculum for nonprofit organizations, and a long-held belief that there is no limit to the ways that people can express their thoughts and ideas. There is nothing that sparks her interest more than a complicated, messy protagonist whose story challenges and questions the status quo – and long-form,YouTube video essays. She holds a BA in Creative Writing and Psychology from Ithaca College and an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and is excited to share her passion for stories in all forms as a member of the Girls Write Now team.
