The RBC Foundation USA spotlights Girls Write Now as a nonprofit partner that empowers youth in their Change a Life video series
New York, NY – November 16, 2023
In highlighting Girls Write Now as an impactful nonprofit partner, our partner RBC Foundation USA sat with mentee alum and Editorial Intern Dolores Haze, alongside her mentor Brenda Henry-Offor.
“Childhood was a little rough,” explains Dolores. “Not a lot of guidance or a lot of support, a lot of ‘figure it out by yourself.'” So when Dolores discovered Girls Write Now as a program meant to support creative youth, she applied and got accepted into Career 360. She was paired with Brenda and they hit it off immediately.
“When Dolores first came to me as a mentee, she was a hesitant young woman,” recounts Brenda. “But she grew stronger as we moved on in our relationship as mentor-mentee.”
“Without mentorship, I would not be here right now,” says Dolores.
Girls Write Now is an organization that is there to help you grow. It’s there to help you come into your own. And more so, it’s there to help you find your community.
