It’s a first-hand account of a devastating hike up Mount Everest, which killed nearly a dozen hikers. While I’m not personally a hiker, I thought the storytelling was so strong and powerful that I literally had a physical response while reading it. In parts where they talked about the sheer vastness of the mountain I could physically feel my palms start to sweat; and in one part where he describes the death of one of the hikers I had to put the book down because it made me feel nauseous. I’ve never had a work of nonfiction elicit this response and to this day I think about how powerful a story can be. </span></span>
