The Audio Storytelling Journey is for mentees and mentors who want to learn about the ways publishing companies create audio books and other audible content for publication.
Learning Objectives
- Understanding the Audio Medium: Learn the unique characteristics and advantages of audiobooks and storytelling compared to traditional print or e-books.
- Crafting Stories for Audio: Discover how to write narratives that translate well into audio, focusing on elements like vivid descriptions and dialogue that conveys tone and emotion.
- Character Development and Voice: Receive guidance in developing distinctive character voices and personalities that are clear and engaging in an audio format.
- Technical Considerations: Gain a basic understanding of the technical aspects of audiobooks, such as audio quality, file formats, and the recording process.
- Critiquing and Analyzing Audiobooks: Develop skills in critiquing and analyzing existing audiobooks to understand what makes them effective or ineffective and apply these insights to your own writing and production efforts.

Audio Storytelling Journey Package
As a mentee or mentor in the Audio Storytelling Journey, you’ll have access to an online course designed to help you learn about audiobook production and audio storytelling. You’ll be paired with a mentee or mentor for one full cycle, and you’ll meet with them at least once each month. You’ll attend at least one community engagement experience a month.

As a mentee or mentor in the Audiobook Journey, you’ll have access to an online course designed to help you learn about audiobook production and audio storytelling.

Learn about the process of creating and marketing audio stories – whether they are audiobooks, podcasts, or online stories. Discover how to transform your writing into audio to hear your work come to life.

Audio Storytelling Mentoring
As a mentee or mentor in the Audio Storytelling Journey, you’ll be paired with a mentee or mentor for one full cycle, and you’ll meet with them at least once each month.
This Journey requires mentees and mentors to commit to one pair session per month. If you’d like to mentor but cannot commit to this requirement, click here.
Audio Storytelling Community Experiences
As a mentee or mentor in the Audio Storytelling Journey, you’ll attend at least one community engagement experience of your choice each month. It is strongly recommended that you attend the following Audiobook Journey meetings:
- March 15, 2025: 2-3 pm ET
- April 12, 2025: 2-3 pm ET
- May 3, 2025: 2-3 pm ET

Multimedia 360 Adventure
The Audiobook Journey is a part of the Multimedia 360 Adventure.
