Emcees
- KARINA MARTINEZ is a 17-year-old Dominican American. She is currently a senior at the Bronx High School of Science and is a fourth year mentee with Girls Write Now. Outside of school, Karina partakes in multiple activities including a program called ENLACE where she learns advanced subjects in the STEM fields and tutoring at the Goddard Riverside Center in the upper west side of Manhattan. During her commute to and from these places, Karina enjoys writing in a journal about the different people she sees when on public transport. The little pieces she writes about the people of New York often inspire her when writing longer and bigger works. Through her writing, she hopes to gain a better understanding of the people and the world around her.
- GRACE HAN
Grace (noun): the middle child of a Korean-American family of five; high school “SE17IOR” at Queens High School for the Sciences at York College; writing academic essays by day, collecting journals by night; graceful (…sometimes). In search of her own writing style, while aspiring to write stories–mostly personal narratives, Grace loves to play on words and enjoys weaving consonants and vowels together to tell stories like her favorite author, Jane Austen. Not only does she want to tell stories but also, Grace hopes to one day be a safe keeper of the stories of girls around the world as she will go on to be a lawyer in the United Nations combating human trafficking.
