Erin Gathrid
(she/her) Mentor
Erin Gathrid either is, was and/or has been a daughter, sister, wife, parent, pet owner, publicist, editor, writer (freelance/ghost/other), crafter, coach, mentor, student, friend and has been known to use all of the above as material. Her work has appeared in print…on paper…though too long ago to be meaningful or relevant. For the past 15 years, the majority of her "work" time has been centered on improving the writing skills and reading comprehension of students in all age groups—first grade through senior year. But perhaps her happiest endeavor is sending a small cohort of girls from Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow to camp in Maine each summer.

Artist‘s Statement
In the strictest sense, I have not created anything this year. I have worked with students in whom I hope to have developed a greater interest in and understanding of words—both spoken and written. As such, the words that follow are not mine; they’re Eleanor Roosevelt’s. I start my day with them as part of a meditative reflection about who I am and who I am striving to be: “You not only have a right to be an individual. You have a responsibility.”
Do you the best way you know how.
