Gemma Simoes Decarvalho works for West Wing Writers, a speechwriting and strategy firm based in Washington, D.C. Before moving to this sticky swamp, Gemma studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University, where she read dreary books and wrote dreary short stories. She’s also spent some time in the book industry, earning her publishing certificate from Columbia’s School of Journalism and interning for literary agencies and independent presses. When she’s not writing, you can find Gemma brunching, decoding Taylor Swift’s TikToks and walking her toothless chihuahua very slowly around the block.
