Kaci X. Tavares
(she/her) Mentor
Kaci X. Tavares hails from Honolulu, HI and is a poet, educator, and editor. With degrees in English, English Education, and Creative Writing from Boston University and the University of East Anglia, she is an advocate for diversifying the Anglosphere's literary canon and publishing industry. A champion of literature that writes into the intersection of identity and language, Kaci has taught at Boston Latin School and has mentored young writers with Girls Write Now and 826 Boston. She is currently the Publishing Fellow at Copper Canyon Press, a non-profit, independent poetry publisher that believes poetry is vital to language and life. Her most recent work can be found in the UEA MA Poetry Anthology 2020 published by Egg Box Publishing. An avid cook, self-taught knitter, and lover of hula, Kaci currently resides in the Pacific Northwest with her rescue cat and two dogs.
