Layla Hussein

Layla Hussein is a storyteller, activist, educator and from the Bronx, New York. No matter the project she is working on, Layla aims to create safe spaces for BIPOC individuals. She founded Journals of Color, a magazine that provides a platform for over 40 Bronx teens to express their voices through art, writing and photography. Additionally, Layla creates anti-racist lesson plans for teachers in Diversify Our Narrative, a national nonprofit campaign. In her free time, Layla dances, listens to BTS, practices photography and watches Glee. You can find her color-coding her Google Calendar to make time for all three.
