Liz Bengels

Liz Bengels has been teaching in NYC schools for 28 years. She was a finalist for the Big Apple Teaching Award and won Honorable Mention from Poet’s House for best poetry teacher of the year. She is an honorary member of the national music honor society, plays violin in the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra and has directed school musicals in Queens, upstate NY and in Manhattan. She has won grants for her students to participate in professional theater workshops, to bake breads for neighbors with the King Arthur Bake for Good program and to make art with teaching artists from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Materials for the Arts in Queens. Liz writes young adult fiction and poetry but has never sought publication.
