Subaah Syed
Mentee
Subaah Syed is currently a junior in high school. She loves sketching, reading sad books and listening to music and she has an uncontrollable habit of doodling in the margins. She is a writer for the Science department in her school’s newspaper and is mainly a STEM-oriented person. Along with science articles, Subaah also likes writing from her experience, especially in the form of personal narratives. Through a time when she is still trying to find her way in the world, her creative imagination and habit of writing sporadically help her in understanding and expressing her thoughts.
Artist‘s Statement
My work explores the power of imagination in the writing process. As ideas are constantly circulating in an individual’s mind, capturing all our thoughts and reflections can be hard. However, sometimes it’s when we are given a prompt that these ideas resurfaced, and once the brain gears are turning and your pencil hits the pen, they are brought to life. My work is therefore a combination of my ideas and the creative prompts that are given to me.
