Friday Night Salon
Friday Night Salons at GWN are engaging virtual live events where a special guest author hosts an intimate session with mentees, mentors, and guest attendees. The author shares their personal and professional journey, offering insights and inspiration. Throughout the evening, the author guides participants through a series of writing prompts, fostering creativity and reflection. These salons provide a unique opportunity for close-up interaction with the author, allowing participants to connect directly with a literary professional in a supportive and inspiring environment. Friday Night salons are open to the public.
College & Career Chats
College and Career Chats are essential virtual live events at GWN that connect youth with industry professionals and partners. These sessions offer valuable insights into various career paths and fields of study, providing participants with direct access to expert advice and guidance. Mentor Professional Development

Beyond mentoring best practices, these sessions delve into DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) aspects, enhancing mentors’ ability to foster inclusive and supportive environments. Writing Nonfiction That Reads Like Fiction
You don't have to invent a plot to write a page turner. In this studio, we'll draw on elements of fiction to craft compelling nonfiction—from memoirs to op-eds and beyond!
Take Back the Pen: Deconstructing Harmful Narratives
Each session of this Studio will involve looking at pioneering African female & non binary writers and how they rewrote the histories & narratives of their identities. Following this exploration, attendees will be given the space to reflect on the ways their identities have been written or told & rewrite these narratives.
IV Edit – Print
In this Intersectional Voices in Print Studio (IV Print), we will explore the publishing process from all angles, including editing, promotion, and bringing more voices to the page. This studio also provides insight into the making of Girls Write Now’s annual anthology, and members of the IV Print Committee will work on editing the book.
Peer Pair Support Studio
A supportive space where peer pairs come together to share experiences and participate in guided exercises focused on effective communication, creative project development, and storytelling.
Harness the Unbound: Taking Control of a Limitless Story
This studio is centered around the idea of a book that has never been bound and exploring the endless possibilities there are as we add to this story. Through this studio we will participate and analyze different activities and notions pertaining to fiction writing and how we can expand on these ideas and learn to gain mastery over our unique crafts.
iFeminism
iFeminism is a series of topics ranging from media, advocacy, and feminism. This month, we will analyze period poverty within the media. We will go through an activity using creative writing and/or graphic design (via Canva’s free resources) to describe how we have been impacted individually and as a community.
