Virtual event; open to all mentees, all mentors, program alum, and the public
Counts towards monthly Community Studio requirement for mentees and mentors!
In this Community Studio you will learn about Girls Write Now’s NextGen Philanthropy Initiative. What we have always had to give is our time, our stories, and access to our communities. Money, or the lack thereof, has often prevented us from viewing ourselves through a philanthropic lens.
In past studios, we have redefined philanthropy, talked about decolonizing it, and now we’re brainstorming ways to make an impact. Join us to lean into our authentic values in a way that inspires people to support and share the mission of Girls Write Now….and we’ll be writing!
Find out how to turn your personal story into a radical force, because we’re not here to make sure things stay the same.
We’re here to change.
Storytelling is in Chelle’s DNA. Chelle (Rochelle)’s imagination is the lens through which she experiences the world. Like many children, life obtruded upon her dreams, and bit by bit, she forgot them. Her stories never forgot her. In the wake of a career as an HR executive, she evolved into perhaps the world’s most reluctant stay-at-home mom. She raised two children, trained a beloved boxer puppy, and in quiet moments, listened to the muse. She returned to writing and hasn’t stopped. A linguaphile and lover of the oxford comma, anything, in the form of a story can engage, inform, and delight. A grateful steward of Girls Write Now’s emerging creatives, she commits to never let any writer ignore a siren’s call.
Girls Write Now’s Next-Gen Philanthropist Initiative is redefining and REIMAGINING philanthropy through educating and supporting the next generation of leaders. We invite active and alum mentors and mentees along with community members interested in redefining philanthropy to join us on a journey to think and act differently. We hope to launch our own initiative in 2024.
Next-Gen Philanthropy Committee will meet monthly during the 2023-2024 Girls Write Now Collaboratory. Mentors, mentees, alumni, and members of the public are welcome to attend our meetings.
