Embracing Diversity: LGBTQIA+ Identities & Experiences in Coming Out

Mentor PD

Friday, March 15
6-7:15PM ET

virtual event; open to Girls Write Now mentors, staff, and peer-to-peer mentees. Required for mentors

Most of us have likely heard of the term “coming out,” but what does it truly entail? The truth is that there is no one way to come out or be out. In this professional development session, we will embark on a journey to understand the intricacies of “coming out.” Join us for an enlightening evening as we delve into the vast, diverse community of LGBTQIA+ people and the different experiences with “coming out.”

Through interactive discussions, personal anecdotes, and informative presentations, participants will gain insight into the challenges, triumphs, and nuances of the coming-out process. We aim to foster a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals can establish an understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and learn from the experiences of others. Whether you identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community or as an ally, this workshop welcomes all who seek to broaden their perspectives and deepen their empathy.
