Three Mentees Write Personal Reflections on Grief
As part of Girls Write Now’s wellness collaboration with the Yellow Tulip Project, we asked three mentees to each write a piece about personal loss. Through blog posts, Olivia Kim, Emma Kushnirsky, and Ifeoma Okwuka share their original work for Yellow Tulip Project’s Grief Awareness Day. Each post focused on a different aspect of grief and how writing can help us process immense emotional experiences. By speaking openly about grief, these mentees show us how we can come to a better understanding of the death of loved ones.
“Grief is one of those topics that people tend to tiptoe around because of its sensitivity,” Ifeoma Okwuka writes. “By writing about it, I hope to convince others that it’s less of a taboo subject and more of a universal part of the human experience.”
