Sirota’s collection is largely inspired by her Ukrainian heritage, and is dedicated to her grandmother, Daria, a Ukrainian poet who immigrated to the United States. “Writing poetry is how I stay connected to her,” explains Sirota. “I grew up reciting her poetry at readings.”
