My whole life has been supported by the gift of being given the space to tell stories. Seeing these brilliant and driven young women take on the world through words gives me so much hope for the future, both of television and the world.” JENNI KONNER
We are thrilled to honor Jenni Konner at the 2016 Girls Write Now Awards. An influential voice behind the screen, Jenni Konner is an executive producer, writer and director of HBO’s Golden Globe winning Girls and co-founder of LennyLetter.com.
Jenni began her career as a writer on Judd Apatow’s celebrated television series, Undeclared. In 2012, she joined Lena Dunham as executive producer on HBO’s hit TV series, Girls, which follows the lives of four young women living in New York City. In 2014, Jenni and Lena co-founded A Casual Romance Production and recently established her own imprint at Random House with Lena where they will publish select titles.
Following this collaboration, they co-authored the weekly feminist online newsletter and website LennyLetter.com. The project intends to give a platform to young female voices to discuss feminist issues. The newsletter features political essays, person stories, interviews, artwork and an advice column from Dunham and Konner. The newsletter has seen essays from notable names including Jennifer Lawrence, Jane Fonda, and former Girls Write Now honoree Gloria Steinem.
It is with great pride that we honor Jenni Konner and her work to elevate the stories of young women.
