The College Research Journey is available for two cohorts of mentees and mentors: those with a general interest in pursuing graduate education, including how to prepare for graduate studies, and undergraduate students who are already committed to graduate school and wish to show that commitment through an early research-intensive project. This Journey is perfect for those beginning their consideration of graduate school. It serves as a comprehensive introduction with an emphasis on lesson completion, quiz grades, and quality of participation in forums.
Learning Objectives
- Target specific professionals in their area of interest via electronic outreach.
- Set goals for a potential career in research or academia.
- Envision themselves in an academic career as part of determining their interest in going to graduate school.
- Peer-learn through enriched conversations and encouraged participation in peer affinity groups, studios, and peer advisories.
- Complete relevant research on academia for writing exercises in each section of the course.
- Understand quantitative and qualitative data application for various research tasks and types of academics.
- Explore graduate school requirements for a program of interest and consider the contents of their application essay(s).

- Complete the Collegiate Research Course
- Attend at least one Community Experience per month
- Have at least two pair sessions per month

College Research Package
As a participant in the College Research Journey, you will be matched with a mentee or mentor to work with you on a research project through the duration of the cycle. You will also have access to the Collegiate Research course, including quizzes, writing exercises, and online forums to discuss your project with other mentees and mentors. You’ll attend at least one community engagement experience a month.

The College Research Journey includes an online course to help mentees and mentors supplement their pair sessions and community engagement experiences.

- Collegiate Research
This course will give an introduction to academia, detail the differences between qualitative and quantitative data, and discuss research paper structures and more.

College Research -Mentoring
Mentees and mentors will be paired together for the duration of the College Research Journey. Pairs will meet with one another for two one-hour pair sessions every month.
The College Research Journey requires at least two pair sessions per month with a mentee or mentor for the duration of the Journey. If you’d like to mentor but cannot commit to this requirement, click here.
College Research -Community Experiences
Mentees and mentors in the College Research Journey must attend at least one Community Experience per month. It is strongly recommended that they attend Affinity Group Meetings, College & Career Chats, and Salon Experiences.
