On Saturday, Girls Write Now was invited to take part in the New York City chapter of the 16th Annual Vital Voices Global Mentoring Walk. Over 200 women walked together across the High Line where mentors and mentees could connect to help each other further their career and life goals. Mentee Megumi Jindo performed a poem she wrote in honor of the inspiring event, called “The Vision We Reach,” and received a standing ovation.
The walk began on the High Line and ended at Diane von Furstenberg’s studio where a panel of women leaders took the stage to discuss the audacious actions they are taking to make dynamic changes in themselves and the world. The panel included Philanthropist, Fashion Designer and Vital Voices Board Member Diane von Furstenberg, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Human Rights Activist Nadia Murad, Vital Voices President & CEO Alyse Nelson, Co-Chair of Diane von Furstenberg Studio Talita von Furstenberg, and the singer/songwriter renowned for the social justice anthem “We Won’t Go Back,” MILCK.
