Some socially-conscious companies are offering paid-time off for their employees to volunteer in their communities, giving many workers the opportunity to support their favorite causes. Mentor alum Macaela Mackenzie wrote an article for Glamour highlighting nine organizations with robust volunteer programs that bring fulfillment and joy to those involved. In her blurb about Girls Write Now, she wrote:

Mentorship programs are one of the most rewarding ways to use your volunteer hours that will have impacts long after your hours are over. At Girls Write Now, you’ll join a diverse community of mentors and mentees where you’ll get just as much as you give. The writing- and multimedia-based mentor program for high school girls and gender-expansive youth is designed to help the next generation of leaders find their voice. You can also join public events and add your voice to discussions on everything from the power of fan fiction to expressing yourself through songwriting.

Our applications for the 2023-2024 program year open this spring! Sign up for our email list to be notified when mentor applications go live. Looking for other ways to support young women and gender-expansive writers? Fill out our interest form to learn about becoming a teaching artist, corporate partner, or other member of our community.
