“The stories, essays, and poems gathered from the mentees in this volume are expressions of, and vehicles to, power. Writing them, the girls discover who they are and who they want to be — and how they want their community and their country to be.” — Francine Prose, foreword author of (R)evolution: The Girls Write 2016 Anthology (She Writes Press, May 2016)
Every year, Girls Write Now takes the strongest, boundary-pushing work from our girls and mentors, and collects them in our award-winning literary anthology. The 2016 book is just months away from publication! Set for a nationwide release in May, (R)evolution is being published by She Writes Press in partnership with Ingram.
She Writes Press was founded by Girls Write Now Board Member Kamy Wicoff and Brooke Warner in 2012 “as a response to the barriers to traditional publishing getting higher and higher for authors.” Kamy also founded She Writes, focused on the principle of connecting and serving women writers everywhere, offering a community for established and aspiring writers. We are thrilled to be part of such a prolific platform that elevates the voices of women.
(R)evolution will explore our evolving creative narrative, celebrating the importance of igniting change and starting anew as writers, thinkers, women, and media makers. With a foreword by Francine Prose, New York Times best-selling author and professor at Bard College, and an introduction from Quiara Alegría Hudes, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright (and last year’s June CHAPTERS keynote speaker), we can’t wait to unveil it.
The Girls Write Now anthology has been recognized as the Outstanding Book of the Year in the Independent Publisher Book Awards, and has earned additional honors from the International Book Awards, National Indie Excellence Awards, Next Generation Indie Book Awards, and the New York Book Festival.
You can pre-order your copy on Amazon today, share about its publication on social media, or look out for the release at the Girls Write Now Awards in May.
