Special Events
Special Events celebrate and promote GWN’s publications, honor our mentee authors, and recognize significant contributions to the literary and creative fields. They provide platforms for guest speakers to share their wisdom and for young writers to showcase their work. Special events foster a vibrant community spirit, encourage creative expression, and strengthen connections within the GWN community.
Launch Parties
Launch Parties at GWN are special events held to celebrate and promote the release of the yearly anthology and other publications, including books, podcasts, and zines. These festive gatherings showcase the creative work of our community, with mentees performing their pieces and sharing their experiences, pairs presenting their journeys, highlighting the collaborative process and the impact of their work, while community members connect and acknowledge each other. Launch Parties are a celebration of the GWN community’s accomplishments, honoring the dedication, talent, and growth of everyone involved.
Awards
Awards at GWN are special events dedicated to honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the literary and creative community. These awards recognize those who have gone above and beyond in supporting and amplifying the voices of young writers, celebrating their commitment to fostering creativity, diversity, and empowerment within the GWN community and beyond. The Awards serve as a moment of recognition and appreciation for the impactful work being done to uplift the next generation of storytellers.
Partnership Events
Partnership Events at GWN are special events that represent collaborative initiatives between Girls Write Now and other organizations, institutions, or corporations. These events are designed to bring together diverse resources, expertise, and communities to create unique opportunities for participants. By working in partnership, GWN extends its impact, offering enriched experiences that foster creativity, learning, and connection across different sectors and audiences. These events highlight the power of collaboration in supporting the voices and stories of young writers.
Other Community Events
Other Special Events at GWN are community-driven initiatives held throughout the year to engage with their audience, support their mission, and provide platforms for young writers to showcase their work. Often organized in collaboration with outside organizations or communities, these events may be in-person or virtual, offering diverse opportunities for participants to connect, share their voices, and celebrate creative expression in various formats and settings. Examples include public library events, bookstore events, concert series, open mic series, and mentee-produced community social activism events.
