My dad and I love art history, and we wanted to bring to light stories of women who have carved and sculpted their place in history! There are so many inspiring women today, but also many women who may be in the shadows of history— and who should be kept alive. This work was a challenge given that I had never worked on a piece through a media platform before. The piece is a product of my learning process and the new mode of storytelling I tried, and the writing I always do!
Informative
Popped
Pop culture is all around us—in the movie trailers we watch, the celebrities we follow, in the books we read, and more. But pop culture often intersects with the larger structures of our lives, like politics or ethics, and these intersections bring up interesting questions about how we consume media. This podcast is a look at these intersections and how to answer these questions in an age in which the personal is the political. In each episode, I’ll explore a recent pop culture trend and then analyze it through a larger framework with background research.
The Ones Who Taught Me to Dream
My mom and dad are my best support system. They have made a lot of sacrifices so that my sisters and I can have a better future. I love them so much, and I am forever grateful to them. To give them a tribute, I made this piece.
My Week in School
This podcast goes into the life of one of many high school students. Each high school student has their own activities, and this just focuses on one student. This represents my best work since it’s relatable to most of the other Girls Write Now mentees. We’re all high school students and deal with so much during the school year, and sometimes we just need to hear someone else going through a similar thing to feel better about a bad or good day.
Changed Lives
My podcast is about immigration and how it affects families. This episode sheds light on the difficult lives immigrants lead. My life as an immigrant inspired me to share this.
This represents my best work in the program because this is a topic that I can relate to. I don’t know what it’s like to be separated from one’s family, but I can imagine how challenging it would be.
Following You
Our podcast will have all of the viewers of You thinking deeply about relationships. We will explore how the show glorifies stalking and possessiveness.
My Home
When you think about living in the Bronx you may conjure up a vision of a nasty place. For me, it’s just the opposite; it’s a place of peace and comfort. I really hope my photographs and video get this message across.

An Ode to Wanderlust
Have you ever traveled the world through words alone? Exploring each place not as someone who wants great pictures or a story to show off, but someone who truly wants to feel the core of what it represents? I have—I’ve traveled and written about the emotions and the memories I haven’t really made. Using Google Maps, I wrote poems about select countries I’ve never been to, and used it as a way to travel the globe. Though difficult, using elements of each country, I’ve managed to paint a picture of how I view them and their importance to me.
You NEED to Listen
Last spring, the New York Times was flooded with articles about abortion and how some states were trying to undermine Roe v. Wade. After reading these headlines, I became scared for myself, the girls around me, and any person who has a uterus. However, I have learned that if you are scared, you must stand up and fight for change. I am fighting back with my words.
Sex Is Her Identity
This graphic design accompanies a poetic performance about sexual identity and traditional expectations of young women.
Looking for Mercy, Stuck in a Nightmare
These poems explore the injustices of the criminal justice system in America. Too many people have been targeted. Too many people have been wronged.
Erasure Poetry of ‘The Danger of a Single Story’
This digital media piece is about what it means to be a woman in today’s society. This piece is also about my take on erasure poetry with a mix of feminism. I emphasize the words by highlighting them instead of spotlighting the words by redacting others.
