Respond to the three forum questions related to networking in and outside of college in 2-3 sentences each or choose one question that you’d like to develop your answer in 8-15 sentences.
- What kinds of extracurriculars are you involved with currently? Are you in a sport, an editor/writer for the school newspaper, volunteer at a local organization etc.? Are you planning to continue these extracurriculars in college?
- If you’ve done an interview with an alum or a student, describe how you prepared for this interview. If you have not yet, describe your plan for these types of interviews.
- Research a professor from your chosen college campus (any kind of professor) and briefly discuss their accomplishments. What do you find admirable about their career?
Additionally, include the title of a book you read recently along with a rating out of 5 stars! Let’s try to get a College 360 TBR going!

I have only done one interview during the application process, and that was for Syracuse University. I honestly did not prepare much for it, other than research the website and possibly prepare a few points I could talk about. I also looked over the articles that Syracuse had posted so decided to go off of that.
Syracuse takes Demonstrated Interest very seriously, which is one of the reasons why I had done the interview so early. Nowadays, more and more universities have backed out of the interview system rather focusing on video portfolios and things such as that.
My interviewer was an alumni of Syracuse who had become an admissions representative of some sort. We first started the interview of with some questions about myself; my school, my prospective majors, my grades, curriculum, etc. This took around 10 minutes. After this, my interviewer asked if I wanted to ask any questions, which I did about her background, the school environment, and more. We ended, with her encouraging me to visit the campus.
The interview is a little bit nerving at first for someone like me who gets anxious very easily, but I didn’t think it was too bad, as this interview specifically was more casual and virtual.
