This Chat will explore the essential attributes and pathways to creative fields, such as authorship, songwriting, fashion, graphic design, and interior design. Here is your chance to ask all of your burning questions about what it takes to make it in creative fields with a panel that includes representatives from Berkeley College, songwriter Stacie Rose, and literary agent Lucinda Halpern.

Community Conversations

Community Conversation 360: Palestine, Israel & Student Activism

Open to all mentees, all mentors, board members, GWN staff and program alum

Join us for a community conversation, led in partnership with the New York Peace Institute, about the crisis in Israel and Palestine, and ongoing student activism in the United States. This will be a session grounded in each of our stories, how we came to feel the way we do about the crises, how we learned what we know, and why we feel the way we feel.

One Letter 4 All Workshop Series

Open to all mentees, all mentors, program alum and the public

Join us at the Girls Write Now office for an inspiring afternoon of social activism through compassionate letter writing for humanitarian causes. In June, we will support two impactful organizations: Hearts of Dinner and Radical Reversal. We'll blend creativity with purpose as we learn about and contribute to these vital initiatives. This workshop is perfect for those who enjoy writing, being artistic, and making a positive impact through human connection and social activism. Everyone is welcome!

Black First: An Undiplomatic Juneteenth Celebration with Deesha Dyer

Open to all mentees, all mentors, program alum and the public

How many rooms have you shut yourself out of before you even got the chance to reach the door? Systemic inequality has taught us an image of who is right for what opportunities, but it is imperative to envision yourself achieving your dreams even when others can’t. Join Girls Write Now and former White House Social Secretary and author of the memoir Undiplomatic: How My Attitude Created the Best Kind of Trouble, Deesha Dyer, for an exploration of self-awareness, overcoming adversity and how to embrace your authenticity at all costs, and the joy and freedom that awaits on the other side.
