Nehanda Thom is a first generation American, born and raised in Brooklyn, with parents hailing from the West Indies. When Neh isn’t seeing clients as a psychotherapist, exploring parks within New York City or reading self-help books, she’s writing maniacally in the notes on her phone, as she often thinks faster than she can record her words. Nehanda is a recent graduate of Nyack College, with a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling, holds certifications in Substance Abuse Counseling, Recovery Coaching and Recovery Peer Advocacy and is a published author, having recently celebrated 2 years since the release of her first book, The Monument. Neh takes pride in the fact that she is not only a mentor at Girls Write Now, but also an alum of the program, having written two pieces for the 2011 mentee anthology.
