online event; open to all woman-identifying, trans, or gender expansive members of the public, mentors, mentees, and alum
Join us as a mentee to learn the ins and outs of crafting a winning college or graduate school application personal statement. Join us as a mentor to support mentees in taking their essays to the next level! Led by writer and NYU clinical professor Susanna Horng, young writers will explore their own unique story and how they can transform their lived experience into a powerful personal statement!
Writers will have dedicated writing time to apply the tips and tricks introduced in the workshop, then work with mentors to strengthen their essays in small group breakout rooms using our Active Listening technique, a tried and true methodology.
Don’t miss this opportunity to work on writing while enjoying an intergenerational gathering of insight, networking, and wisdom!
Susanna Horng is a writer and Clinical Professor at NYU Liberal Studies. Her stories and poems have appeared in Bennington Review, Minerva Rising and The Rumpus. She has been supported by Catwalk Art Institute, a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, and a Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship.
