How Do Characters Interact in The Thing? In this lesson, participants will be asked to explore and define the ways in which characters interact with the fictional world and each other. The exploration will be fostered by asking participants to look at interactions that exist both in media and in the real world and seeing what elements could be helpful for the interactions of their characters.
In this interdisciplinary studio, attendees will explore and discuss compassion in relation to their loved ones and not so loved ones, meditation, and methods to deepen their writing practice. Attendees will participate in a meditation and complete writing activities designed to encourage mindfulness.
In this session, we’ll hone our reporting skills by observing what works (and doesn’t work) in the viral celebrity interviews dominating your feed today. Whether you want to weave insightful interviews into your nonfiction work, or are simply curious about different journalism career pathways, this one is for you!

Explore how powerful stories are driven not just by plot, but by the internal transformation of the main character. Participants will learn how to develop deeper, more compelling protagonists by understanding their wounds, fears, and the beliefs they must overcome.
In this session, participants will explore the art of zine-making, as a creative way to bring their ideas to life. Using Canva we’ll walk through how to turn your thoughts into a visually engaging zine.

In this final studio, writers will revisit the tools of tension, combining genre techniques with sensory detail to strengthen their storytelling. Through guided prompts and a workshop-style session, participants will generate new work that reflects both what they’ve learned and their unique voice.
