In this workshop, Girls Write Now Mentees learned from NCBU “Mentors for the Day” about training your brain to stay in the present and move past negative thoughts on your way to achieving your goals.

Make Your Own Holiday: Celebrate Anything & Anyone!
Inspired by the “Festivus” episode in the hit NBC show Seinfeld, this workshop gave you a chance to embrace your own inner holiday, celebrating anything and anyone you want. Participants let their imagination run wild as they worked in small, multi-generational groups with NBCU employees—”Mentors for the Day”—and Girls Write Now Mentees to create a theme and design, plan a menu and playlist, draft an invitation, and even curate a dream guest list.

All From Your Phone: Creating Digital News with NBCU’s Maya Eaglin
Get media savvy from the comfort of your phone! Maya Eaglin, digital reporter for NBC News, shared information about pitching ideas, the skills employed to get a great interview, and the production process used to create her stories. You can see her features on the company’s Gen Z and Millennial brand “Stay Tuned”, which has over 10.7 million subscribers, as well as on NBC News Now and NBCNews.com.
