The RBC Foundation USA shines a light on how Girls Write Now is mentoring the next generation of leaders.
New York, NY – January 17, 2024
The RBC Foundation USA, one of our long-term corporate partners, has recently highlighted Girls Write Now as an organization that is meaningfully mentoring the next generation of leaders in an article outlining our impact.
The article is written by Stephanie Gordon, Director of Corporate Banking at RBC Capital Markets. She has served on the Girls Write Now Partnership Committee and now sits on the Board of Directors. “When I first learned about Girls Write Now,” says Gordon, “it reminded me of my mentors in high school who recognized my potential and went out their way to share knowledge and resources that helped me achieve ambitious goals.”
Gordon writes that Girls Write Now’s programming is unique due its focus on social-emotional learning, and “[r]esearch shows that when young people succeed in these areas, they achieve positive long-term outcomes such as improved academic performance and they’re less likely to get involved in negative risk-taking behaviors.”
Gordon also recently spoke about the importance of Girls Write Now over on our blog, Life@GWN.
My powerful connection with the Girls Write Now mission compelled me to become an advocate and volunteer, joining the Partnership Committee and, most recently, becoming a board member.
